PREP ROUNDUP : Woodbridge Wins Tennis Opener

Woodbridge opened play in the Sea View League with a 10-8 victory over Santa Margarita in a girls’ tennis match Wednesday at Santa Margarita.
Natalie Exon swept at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-4, 6-2, for Woodbridge (3-0, 1-0). Santa Margarita is 1-1, 0-1.
In nonleague girls’ tennis:
Villa Park 13, Esperanza 5--Freshman Faye Devera, the No. 2-ranked player in Southern California’s 14-and-under division, is starting her high school career off in style. She swept her sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, to lead Villa Park (3-0) to victory over previously unbeaten Esperanza (2-1). Devera has won all six of her sets without losing a game.
Irvine 14, Foothill 4--All three singles players for Irvine (3-0) swept their matches in the road victory over Foothill.
Estancia 10, Savanna 8--Estancia’s top singles player Julie Fielder defaulted her last match, but her team was still pulled out the victory over Savanna (2-1).
Katella 15, Magnolia 3--Patty Villaroman and Kristen Sakamoto, Katella’s Nos. 1 and 2 singles’ players, swept their their sets, 6-0, for visiting Katella (1-1).
Dana Hills 15, Marina 3--Elizabeth Stevens swept at No. 1 singles, 7-6, 6-0, 6-1, for host Dana Hills (2-0). Dana Hills swept all three doubles, losing only seven games.
Laguna Beach 11, University 7--Michelle Bray won at No. 1 singles, 7-6, 6-0, 6-1, and Heather Holmes and Ashlie Gravley won at No. 1 doubles, 6-4, 6-1, 6-3, for visiting Laguna Beach (3-0).
Canyon 10, Corona 8--Alice Nguyn defeated Kasie Cortez, 7-6 (7-5 in the tie-breaker), in the last match of the day to secure the victory over visiting Corona.
In nonleague girls’ volleyball:
Southern California Christian 3, Colton Christian Center Academy 0--Liz Gaez recorded six kills for Southern California Christian (1-2), which won, 15-11, 15-6, 15-12.
Estancia 3, La Quinta 0--Estancia (1-1) defeated visiting La Quinta, 15-2, 15-11, 15-3.
In nonleague water polo:
Fountain Valley 9, Los Amigos 4--Fountain Valley (1-1) defeated Los Amigos (0-2) behind six goals from Eric Best. The game was the 23rd annual match-up of the inter-city rivals. Fountain Valley leads the series 15-8.
El Modena 21, Bolsa Grande 4--Mike Anthony had what many players would consider a good week in one game. He nearly tripled the scoring of Bolsa Grande by scoring 11 goals in the victory.
