Rescue Teams Find Body of Missing Hiker

ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST — The body of a man who was reported missing during a hiking trip in Angeles National Forest was found by rescue workers Sunday morning at the bottom of a steep embankment.
Authorities said they believe that Theodore John, a 67-year-old Monterey Park resident, fell to his death in a steep mountainous area near Dark Canyon. John was reported missing Wednesday.
The hiker’s body was found near Angeles Crest Highway by the Montrose Search and Rescue team, which is made up of volunteers and reserve sheriff’s deputies from the Crescenta Valley station of the Lo s Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, said Patrick Hauser, a sheriff’s department spokesman.
The exact cause of death is not yet known.
