COSTA MESA : Empty Park Building to Be Demolished
- Share via
A vacant building at Paularino Park will be demolished by the city at a cost of $12,000, and the Parks, Recreation Facilities and Parkways Commission will meet today to recommend how to use the subsequent vacant land.
The building, which once housed restrooms and a club room, has been closed since 1979, when the Community Services Department shut down the playground program operating there.
John Long, a member of Parents for Paularino Pride, a neighborhood improvement group, said the building has been a concern of residents for years.
“This building has been a menace to public safety,” he said, noting that a young girl was recently assaulted in the shadows of the building.
The commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
