SYLMAR — A 90-year-old San Fernando woman was killed Sunday when she drove through a red light at a Sylmar intersection and her car was broadsided, police said Monday.
Gladys Reutlinger Hammill was pronounced dead of severe head injuries at Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.
Officer Frank Zdroy said the woman was driving west on Sayre Street about 5 p.m. Sunday when she turned south on Glenoaks Boulevard. Her car was then struck by another driven by Fernando Carrillo, 30, of Pico Rivera.
Zdroy said several witnesses reported seeing the woman run a red light. Carrillo, who received minor injuries, was not cited.
