Here is a look at the Southland fires as of 6 p.m. Wednesday:
* Controlled: When a fire’s perimeter is no longer expanding.
* Contained: Usually accompanied by a percentage, indicates how much of a fire is surrounded--although it is still burning.
LOS ANGELES COUNTY
Calabasas/Malibu
* Location: Started in Calabasas and moved along a five-mile front southwest toward Malibu. Flames continue to rage between Topanga and Coral canyons.
* Acres: 35,000.
* Damage: 200 structures destroyed.
* Cause: Unknown.
* Status: Out of control.
* Firefighters: 5,000.
* Deaths/Injuries: 1 man dead, 1 resident in critical condition; six firefighters hurt.
* Evacuations: 2,000 people.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY
Banning
* Location: San Gorgonio and Repplier roads.
* Acres: 8,000.
* Damage: Four homes and one barn destroyed and damage to two homes, 11 storage buildings.
* Cause: Arcing power lines
* Status: 50% contained.
* Firefighters: 1,400
* Injuries: Four residents and six firefighters with minor injuries.
* Evacuations: More than 2,000 people from Cherry Valley area.
VENTURA COUNTY
Green Meadow/Thousand Oaks
* Location: East of Mulholland, Pacific Coast hwys.
* Acres: 1,200.
* Damage: No structures.
* Cause: Arson.
* Status: Last week’s fire in the Thousand Oaks area was 100% contained until the wind shifted and a spot fire jumped Mulholland Highway on Tuesday. As of Wednesday it was 95% contained.
* Injuries: None.
* Firefighters: 1,325.
SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY
Yucaipa
* Location: Oak Glen.
* Acres: 55.
* Damage: No structures.
* Cause: Arson.
* Status: 100% controlled.
* Injuries: None.
* Firefighters: 175.
SAN DIEGO COUNTY
Poway
* Location: Northwest section of Poway.
* Acres: 1,500.
* Damage: 1 structure destroyed.
* Cause: Under investigation.
* Status: 100% contained.
* Injuries: None
* Firefighters: More than 100.
