PREP VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS : Corona del Mar Wins in Division I

The Corona del Mar High girls’ volleyball team defeated Newport Harbor, 10-15, 15-3, 17-15, 15-8, to win the Southern Section Division I championship Saturday night at Cerritos College.
It was the third meeting between the Sea View League rivals this season. Newport Harbor won the first two.
In the Division II final, middle blocker Stacy Laitsch had 18 kills as Los Alamitos defeated Fountain Valley, 15-6, 4-15, 15-13, 15-12.
Torrance defended its Division III championship by sweeping Saugus, 16-14, 15-9, 15-9.
In Division IV, La Mirada defeated La Canada, 15-12, 15-6, 11-15, 9-15, 15-8.
Santa Ana Calvary Chapel defeated Cerritos Valley Christian, 15-9, 15-17, 15-7, 15-10, in the Division V final.
In Division VI, Cambria Coast Union defeated San Juan Capistrano St. Margaret’s, 15-9, 15-11, 15-11.
CITY SECTION
In the 4-A final, Palisades defeated Roosevelt, 15-11, 15-7, 15-6, at Occidental College to win the City girls’ championship for the fourth year in a row and the 18th time in 20 years.
Palisades (15-2) was led by senior Sarah Schroeder, who had 13 kills and six aces.
In the 3-A final, Jenna Panatier had 14 kills to lead Van Nuys past Marshall, 15-4, 15-3, 15-7.
