Soccer / Forward
Osman, the most valuable player from Lakewood St. Joseph High School last season, is one of the many talented players who have kept Cypress top-ranked in the state much of the season. Osman, an All-Southern Section pick in high school, gained more attention Saturday with an overtime goal that gave the Chargers a 2-1 victory over Mt. San Antonio in the first round of the Southern California playoffs. The goal came in the final minute of overtime, preventing the game from being decided on penalty kicks.
Other notables:
* LeAnn Kazmar of Orange Coast had 58 points and 19 rebounds as the Pirates beat El Camino, 66-63, and Victor Valley, 84-65.
* Jaimie Torromeo had 12 aces as Golden West swept Rio Hondo in three games in the Southern California volleyball playoffs.
