The Best Answer to 2 Los Angeles Problems
- Share via
* The Los Angeles Times recently published a letter by Robert E. Main headlined “Schools Should Not Be Day Care Centers.” Main spoke of L.A.’s Best Program and the Metrolink child care center scheduled to be built in Chatsworth.
L.A.’s Best has been nationally recognized as an outstanding educational/recreational after-school program. It is targeted to areas where gangs are a problem, and its purpose is to provide these elementary school children with a positive enriching alternative to gangs. It is sponsored by the city of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Unified School District. The child care center at the Metrolink station is to give commuters a further incentive to use the energy-saving rail system as opposed to automobiles.
Both programs are a plus for Los Angeles.
