Ventura County sheriff’s deputies Friday arrested an 18-year-old Camarillo man--enrolled as a student at Oxnard’s El Rio High School--who had been sought by detectives in Northern California as a suspect in a slaying last year.
Emanuel Nathaniel Washington was arrested at the high school without incident and booked into Ventura County Jail on suspicion of murder, police said. He was being held without bail Friday.
Witnesses have identified Washington in the May, 1992, slaying of Vernon Dozier in Richmond, police said. Dozier was killed with a .38 caliber pistol. Detectives said they had been looking for Washington since the slaying.
