A record number of women intend to become doctors or lawyers or enter other professions that require advanced college degrees, according to a major annual survey of college freshmen that shows women’s aspirations are higher than men’s. More than 66% of female college freshmen plan to earn advanced degrees, compared with 63% of males. More women also plan to pursue medical, law or doctoral degrees--a record 27.3% of female freshmen, compared with 25.8% of males, according to the survey by the UCLA Higher Education Research Institute.
