Funeral Services Slated for 2 Slain Security Guards

Funerals for two security guards slain in separate incidents last weekend are scheduled today and Sunday.
Services for Dagoberto Carrero, 25, of Orange will be held at noon today at the Shannon-Donegan Mortuary at 137 E. Maple Ave. in Orange. Carrero was shot and killed about 11 p.m. Feb. 20 while standing at his post inside the lobby of the Century City Center Theatre in Orange, police said.
A former Marine and veteran of the Persian Gulf War, he is survived by his wife and a 9-month-old daughter.
Funeral services for Rupert Morales, 19, of Santa Ana will be held Sunday in Mexico City. Morales was shot about 1 a.m. Feb. 21 in the parking lot of a Garden Grove bar named Nick’s Hide Away.
Morales had lived with his brother and several others, and supported a 4-month-old daughter who lived separately with her mother.
Morales’ friends and relatives raised $1,700 to send his body to Mexico, where his parents expect it to arrive today according to friend and housemate Roberto Benitez.
