A man died this week when he apparently leaped from a 23rd floor window at a Holiday Inn into a pool.
The unidentified man opened a window next to the elevators and jumped at about 1:25 p.m. Sunday into about five feet of water. He was pulled from the pool in cardiac arrest and died en route to the hospital, authorities said.
“The impact killed him. He may have ruptured his aorta,” Cedars-Sinai Medical Center spokesman Ron Weiss said.
The man was not a guest at the North Highland Avenue hotel, said Los Angeles Police Lt. Eric Colter. There were no witnesses, but it did not appear that he was pushed, Colter said.
