SAN FRANCISCO--The Mission District hosts an international celebration at Carnaval San Francisco, May 27-29. A free, all-day festival is Saturday-Sunday on Harrison Street between 16th and 22nd streets. The Carnaval Grand Parade is 11 a.m. Sunday. In honor of World Cup XV, festivities spotlight soccer, and include a Soccer Pavilion, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday-Sunday at Las Americas School, 20th and Harrison streets, and “the World’s Longest Dribble” event at 9 a.m. Sunday. GARDEN GROVE--Pay tribute to a favorite seasonal fruit at the 36th annual Garden Grove Strawberry Festival, May 27-30. MAMMOTH LAKES--The Monachi Gold Folklore Festival re-creates California’s colorful history, May 27-30. The Gold Rush era, Native American culture and Old West traditions are celebrated 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Monday; an opening reception is 5-7 p.m. Friday.
