PICO RIVERA : Temporary Street Barricade Gets OK
- Share via
The City Council has approved a temporary barricade on Manzanar Avenue to stem the flow of traffic off of heavily traveled Telegraph Road.
Numerous drivers have been using Manzanar, a residential street, to avoid the crowded intersection of Rosemead Boulevard and Telegraph Road, and residents along Manzanar complained that heavy traffic was unsafe. A recent survey found that 768 vehicles a day used Manzanar, compared to a range of 103 to 240 cars per day on similar streets.
Manzanar will be barricaded north of Telegraph in early October for a two-month trial period, officials said. Three cross streets north of the barricade will provide access to the neighborhood.
Resident Richard Salcido praised the decision. “There are too many cars driving down here too fast,” he said.
