Surging Imports Widen Trade Deficit Down Under: Australia’s trade deficit was wider in August than it’s been in more than four years, a result of surging imports that signal the economy is growing fast enough to spur inflation, analysts said. The current account deficit expanded 18% to a seasonally adjusted $1.56 billion, from a revised $1.32 billion in July, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said.
