Santa Clara 22, Santa Paula 17--Senior running back Andy Maciel scored from 53 yards on a fumblerooski on a fourth-down play with three minutes 24 seconds to play to lead Santa Clara (1-6, 1-1) at Santa Paula.
Santa Paula (1-6, 0-2) took a 14-0 lead following senior running back Jeremy Johnson’s 45-yard run and receiver Austin Macias five-yard touchdown reception from Tony Tate.
Santa Clara came back to lead, 15-14, at halftime after Maciel took a screen pass 76 yards for a touchdown. Maciel had 148 yards in 18 carries.
Johnson rushed for 116 yards in 13 carries.
