Valley Students Take to the Streets

The following San Fernando Valley schools had walkouts against Prop. 187 on Wednesday in the Los Angeles Unified School District:
Birmingham High in Van Nuys: About 100 students marched; most returned to campus. Columbus Middle School in Canoga Park: Nearly 200 students marched; most returned to classes. Fulton Middle School in Van Nuys: About 30 students jumped the fence; some returned to class.
Granada Hills High School: About 300 students walked the campus perimeter. Grant High in Van Nuys: About 100 students left campus; most returned on school buses. Monroe High in North Hills: About 100 students left classes; some returned.
Northridge Middle School: About 100 students left campus; most returned. Pacoima Middle School: About 100 students marched around campus, then returned. Portola Middle School in Tarzana: About 50 students left campus; all returned.
Sepulveda Middle School in North Hills: About 200 students left campus. Sutter Middle School in Canoga Park: Nearly 75 students marched around campus; most returned. Taft High School in Woodland Hills: About 600 students left campus; most returned.
Van Nuys High School: At least 100 students left classes; most returned on school buses; Van Nuys Middle School: About 40 students left campus; some returned.
