OUTLOOK
Santa Margarita soundly thumped Servite, 67-53, in the Southern Section Division III-AA championship game. However, the deep, talented Friars might play themselves into another section title game this season. Servite and Tustin are co-favorites to take the league’s first championship. A dominant player near the basket, the Stanford-bound Seaton is in his fourth year on the varsity. He averaged 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocks as a junior. Hamilton believes that Downs, a three-year varsity member, is one of the county’s most underrated players. He averaged 12 points and eight rebounds. Peter Martinelli was promoted from the junior varsity for the playoffs and didn’t disappoint. A skilled ballhandler, Martinelli has no competition at point guard. How well he handles his new status early is a key.
