With words of praise for his work over the past nine years, the Moorpark school board bid farewell to outgoing high school Principal Cary Dritz.
At a board meeting Tuesday night, district Supt. Tom Duffy also complimented Dritz for helping to improve academics at Moorpark High. “Now we’re not just good in football,” Duffy said, pointing to trophies won by the school’s Academic Decathlon team.
During Dritz’s tenure, the school more than doubled in size and moved from its aging campus off Casey Road to a new site on the other side of town.
Dritz leaves for a job as director of human resources with the Ventura County superintendent of schools office. Charles Smith, a retired assistant superintendent for the Moorpark Unified School District, will serve as interim principal until a new appointment is made.
