Obituaries : Leon Zermeno; Trucking Executive

Leon Zermeno, a trucking company executive who helped found the first Little League baseball teams in Ventura County, died Saturday. He was 67.
A resident of Ventura County for 48 years, Zermeno was the founder and president of OST, a truck and crane company. At the company’s Ventura Avenue headquarters, he created OST Park, open to the public for picnics and recreation.
He was on the board of directors of Community Memorial Hospital and was a past Tri-County chairman of the California Trucking Assn.
He leaves his wife, Elaine Zermeno; his father, Donald Zermeno; a daughter, Katherine Zermeno, and sons Donald and Steven Zermeno, all of Ventura. Also surviving are son Dennis Zermeno of Ojai and seven grandchildren.
A funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ventura. Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura is handling the arrangements.
