Cal State L.A. Slips by Pesky Pomona, 75-72

They may have squeaked out their latest victory, but another one in the win column is all that matters for the Cal State L.A. men’s basketball team.
The Golden Eagles (13-5, 3-1) managed a 75-72 victory Thursday night over Cal Poly Pomona (13-5, 1-3). CSLA pulled away by as many as 10 points in the first half, but Pomona stayed close down the stretch.
Guard Rodney Harris led the Golden Eagles with a team-high 16 points. Forward Tyrone Halock, who played all but one minute, scored 14 points with eight rebounds and three assists. Guard Antoine Burwell scored 13 points.
Cal Poly Pomona was led by a game-high 22 points from Tyrone Merriweather, who also had 10 rebounds and six assists coming off the bench.
Records: Cal State Los Angeles 13-5; Cal Poly Pomona 13-5.
