Aspiring musicians from the Glendale Unified School District’s 19 elementary schools will perform Feb. 28 in the annual elementary Honors Orchestra Concert, an event billed as the largest instrumental performance in the area.
More than 250 student musicians in grades four through six will perform at the concert, which will be held at the Hall of Liberty at Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills. The students are all enrolled in music programs at their respective schools and are chosen to participate based on their skill level, organizers said.
The students will be divided into two orchestras that will perform separate programs. The Festival Orchestra will be made up of beginning and intermediate players, while the Showcase Orchestra will feature students with more advanced skills.
