Administrative and business services managers at UC Irvine report that during a two-year project to streamline operations and eliminate unnecessary paperwork, the school has eliminated 5.3 million pieces of paper that would have otherwise been used.
And it’s all thanks to the “paper-sparse initiative.”
In the campus Parking and Transportation departments, managers initiated a paper-free application process for parking permits, bus passes and van-pool tickets that university officials say is reducing paper usage by 150,000 pieces a year.
But it is doubtful that the university will stop giving out parking tickets to save paper.
