Students’ Test Scores Recognized
Thirty-nine students at Capistrano Valley High School have been named Advanced Placement scholars by the College Board to recognize their scores on college-level Advanced Placement examinations.
Students who received the highest level of honor--AP Scholar With Distinction--were Shahram Aarabi, Anish Banker, Theodore Hromadka, Erich Ludwig, Osvaldo Pereira, Benjamin Russell, Mark Suthisamphat, Indi Trehan and Wendy Wang.

Medical Center Gives Money for Books
Friendly Hills HealthCare Network has donated $728 to the La Habra City School District to buy textbooks.
Gloria Mayer, Friendly Hills president and chief operating officer, said the money was raised during a holiday boutique sale at the medical center’s gift shop recently.
In all the employees raised $1,500, with half going to the Network’s Friends of Children Health Center at Las Lomas Elementary School.

Government Club Visits Legislature
Twenty-six members of Los Alamitos High School’s Youth and Government Club recently went to Sacramento to observe and participate in mock sessions of the Legislature and state Supreme Court.
The students were accompanied by Frank Petrick, a teacher and adviser of the club. Also with the group were advisers Jesse Oquist and Jennifer Potter and parent Vince Ammirato.
In the state capital, the students learned how the legislative and judicial processes work by attending actual sessions.

Dance, Song Leader Teams Win Honors
Two Tustin High School teams recently won honors during the National Cheer Assn. cheer and dance competition in Dallas.
The dance team placed third in the officers division and fourth in the team routine category. The team members were Kari Eckelbarger, captain; Kelly Eckelbarger, co-captain; Marianne Abijay, first lieutenant; Christie Taylor, second lieutenant, and Julia Jackman, third lieutenant.
The varsity song leaders team of Naykea Sellars and Kristi Nield finished third in the small varsity division.
Both teams were coached by Brynn Lawrence.

Photography Brings Honors for Three
Three Dana Hills High School students have been recognized for their photography talents in the National Parent-Teacher Assn.’s 1994 Reflections Contest.
Ashleigh Archard placed first, Scott Kingman second and Jocelyn Harris third.
