Wait-and-See Policy Taken on Interest Rates: Prime Minister Paul Keating said last year’s three rate increases have slowed the economy. “We are now waiting to see just how our national accounts are looking as we get more partial data in,” he said. The national accounts figures for the October-to-December quarter are due April 5. The economy grew at a 6.4% rate for the 12 months ended Sept. 30.
