State Group Honors Oxnard Sunday Series

The California Downtown Assn., a group dedicated to revitalizing downtowns throughout the state, has presented a marketing award to Oxnard’s Sundays at the Square series of music and art events.

The series is designed to attract visitors to the city’s Heritage Square on Sunday afternoons. It is sponsored by 25 local businesses, including Channel Islands National Bank, the James Graca Design Group and Aztec Private Security.

Ruth Bernstein, Oxnard’s director of downtown events, was elected to the board of the statewide group at its conference in Modesto last month. She has been responsible for several other events, including Oxnard’s weekly Farmers Market, the annual Hometown Holidays Christmas Parade and a Friday night summer concert series.
