COMPTON : 7 in Train, 2 in Car Hurt in Crash on Blue Line Tracks

As many as nine people were injured Monday night when a motorist apparently drove around a railroad crossing barrier in Compton and his car was struck by a Metro Blue Line train heading to Los Angeles.
Seven people aboard the northbound train suffered mostly minor injuries, and two people in the car were more seriously hurt. The nature of their injuries was unavailable.
Some of the injured were taken to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood.
The crash occurred where the tracks cross Greenleaf Boulevard near Willowbrook Avenue in Compton. At least one car on the train left the tracks as a result of the crash. The train was going about 35 m.p.h.
