In other championship quarterfinal of the Canyon tournament:
El Dorado 1, Fountain Valley 0 (9, international tie breaker)--Fountain Valley catcher Lindsay Collins’ throw behind the runner at third base hit El Dorado’s Jamie Nebeker in the back and rolled into left field. Nebeker came home to score the game-winner.
Esperanza 4, Canyon 1--Kari De Soto went two for three with three runs batted in and Danielle Wilson gave up two hits, eight strikeouts and no walks to lead Esperanza (8-5).
Canyon is (10-7). Esperanza will take on El Dorado at 3:30 p.m. in the championship semifinals and Canyon will play Fountain Valley in a consolation game at 1:15 p.m.
In the intermediate bracket of the Canyon tournament:
Norco 7, Calvary Chapel 1--Adrian Genovese was three for four for Norco (11-7).
Ocean View 5, Orange 4--Malissa Wilkinson had three hits, including the game-winner in the top of the seventh inning, to lead Ocean View (8-3-1).
In the consolation round of the Canyon tournament:
Dana Hills 5, Las Vegas Durango 2--Leslie Punelli had one hit and a sacrifice, driving in two runs for Dana Hills (9-7).
Santa Ana Valley 10, Valencia 4 (6, time)--Mayra Orejel went two for three for Santa Ana Valley (3-14). Yesenia Paniagua had four strikeouts, giving up eight hits.
Las Vegas Clark 3, Troy 2 (international tie-breaker)--Casey Bartolo hit a double to drive in the winning run for Clark (7-4). Troy is 2-12.
