Tekelec Boosts 1st-Quarter Earnings to $1.47 Million

Tekelec, a Calabasas maker of switches and testing equipment for phone systems, said its earnings for the first quarter that ended March 31 increased to $1.47 million, compared to a $126,000 profit in the first quarter last year. Revenues rose 43% to $18.63 million from $12.99 million in the previous year’s first quarter.
The company attributed the increase to strong sales of both testing and switching products.
