Countywide : Irvine Co. to Cede 12 Acres to Wilderness Park
- Share via
The Irvine Co. today will sign over 12 acres to the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park for a parking lot and new headquarters for the park.
The Board of Supervisors will accept title to the land, which is just south of El Toro and Laguna Canyon roads.
The property transfer is part of a 7-year-old agreement between the land developer and the county, said Bob Fisher, director of the county division of Harbors, Beaches and Parks.
Under the 1988 pact, the Irvine Co. agreed to give the county 2,666 acres in exchange for the right to build the Newport Coast development project.
When finished, the project--between Corona del Mar and Laguna Beach--will include 2,600 homes, two 18-hole golf courses and several hundred acres of open space.
