Lear Wins BMW Seat Contract

Southfield, Mich.-based Lear Seating Corp., the world’s largest maker of automotive seats, said it was selected to supply seats for the BMW 3 Series of cars in South Africa. Production began recently at Lear’s JIT facility in Brits, South Africa, and the seats are being supplied to auto maker Bayerische Motoren-Werke’s assembly plant near Pretoria, Lear said. The BMW 3 Series is built for the African market.
