Upset in Pro Beach Volleyball

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Eleventh-seeded Jackie Campbell and Janice Harrer scored Friday’s only upset by knocking off sixth-seeded Cammy Ciarelli and Barbra Fontana Harris, 12-11, at the Nationals at the Huntington Beach Pier.
The Nationals continue today with contender’s bracket matches at 8:30 a.m. and championship bracket action at 10:30 a.m.
The top-seeded tandem of Holly McPeak and Nancy Reno won twice Friday and will meet Karrie Poppinga and Deb Richardson in a quarterfinal match.
The other quarterfinals will feature Campbell-Harrer against third-seeded Liz Masakayan and Angela Rock; second-seeded Linda Hanley and Karolyn Kirby meet seventh-seeded Lisa Arce and Patty Dodd; fourth-seeded Gail Castro and Lori Forsythe face fifth-seeded Elaine Roque and Dennie Shupryt-Knoop in the final championship quarterfinal match.
The finals are Sunday at 11 a.m.
