Fidelity National Financial Inc.: The Irvine-based title insurer has cut its stake in U.S. Facilities Corp. from 9.8% to 4.8%. Fidelity, which paid $5.6 million for 551,450 shares of U.S. Facilities in 1994, sold 282,500 of the shares Friday for more than $5.2 million, nearly recouping its initial investment. Fidelity still holds 268,950 shares.
Fidelity reduced its holdings in U.S. Facilities a week after it notified the Securities and Exchange Commission that it was ending an 18-month quest to acquire the Costa Mesa medical and property-and-casualty insurer.
