Ducks’ Jomphe Shows His Skills in Loss to Canucks

VANCOUVER — Forward J.F. Jomphe made his stint on a line with Valeri Karpov and Denny Lambert count with a goal and two assists in the Mighty Ducks’ 4-3 exhibition loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night.
The game, the first in GM Place, was settled when Jyrki Lumme scored a power-play goal at 11:49 of the third period.
Lambert put the Ducks up, 3-2, with a power-play goal at 3:28 of the third. Jomphe, who won a contract after a tryout in 1993, scored and helped set up Karpov’s goal.
Cliff Ronning, Russ Courtnall and Jeff Brown added goals for the Canucks (2-1).
The Ducks (2-2) return to The Pond of Anaheim to face the New York Rangers at 5 p.m. today.
