PREP ROUNDUP : Pacifica Ends Long Skid in Girls’ Tennis

The Pacifica girls’ tennis team broke a 42-match losing streak by beating Calvary Chapel, 14-5, Monday at Costa Mesa Tennis Club.
Pacifica (1-6), which hadn’t won in a year and a half, won nine of 10 doubles sets Monday. The coaches agreed to add an extra set in doubles. Elizabeth Atkin and Casey Kearney-Porter won, 6-2, 6-1, 6-0, and Kavi Shankar and Homa Dashtaki won, 6-4, 7-6, 6-0, for Pacifica.
Julianne Eastman swept in singles, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, for host Calvary Chapel (3-4).
In other nonleague girls’ tennis:
El Dorado 15, Mater Dei 3--Susan Surapruik and Brittany McMillan swept at No. 1 doubles, 6-4, 6-0, 6-2, for visiting El Dorado (6-1) at the Costa Mesa Tennis Club.
La Quinta 9, Valencia 9 (La Quinta wins on games, 89-85)--Jenny Ha won in singles, 6-2, 6-2, 6-1, for host La Quinta. Phuong Tong and Van To won, 7-5, 6-3, 6-0, in doubles for the Aztecs.
University 13, Irvine 5--Lucy Molnar won at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2, 6-1, and Jennifer Krupoff and Katy Clark won, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 1 doubles for host University (3-4).
In nonleague girls’ volleyball:
Costa Mesa 3, Santa Ana Valley 0--Alicia Harber had eight aces as host Costa Mesa won, 15-13, 15-9, 15-11.
Tustin 3, Estancia 2--Michelle Kowalski had 18 kills as host Tustin won, 12-15, 15-11, 15-11, 4-15, 15-11.
