Rancho Santiago 27, Southwestern 17--Sam Handler put Rancho Santiago up 7-0 in the first quarter on a two-yard run. Casey Wilson, followed with a 48-yard field goal, the longest of his career, to put the Dons up, 10-0. Wilson kicked a 25-yard field goal in the second quarter. He set the school record for most career field goals with 19.
With the score tied at 10-10, Kent Miller sacked Southwestern quarterback Presley Johnson and Anthony D’Amato picked up the ball and ran it in from the three-yard line. Jermaine Gray put the game away with a 69-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, the Dons’ longest run this season.
Orange Coast 27, Fullerton 23--William League scored three touchdowns to lead Orange Coast (4-4, 3-1). League scored on runs of three, 58 and five yards. For Fullerton (2-5-1, 2-2), Eric Hannah completed 16 of 27 passes for 177 yards.
In the South Coast Conference water polo championship:
Golden West 21, Long Beach 11--Jeremy Pope scored six goals to give Golden West the South Coast Conference title. Andre Araujo added four goals as Golden West advances to next week’s Southern California championships.
