Benefit Land Title Gets OK to Sell Policies

SANTA ANA — Insurance underwriter Benefit Land Title Co. has received approval from the California Department of Insurance to sell its own title insurance policies statewide through a newly created subsidiary, Benefit Land Title Insurance Co.

The parent company, created in 1987, holds licenses to sell policies in Orange, Los Angeles and San Diego counties for other title insurance companies.

Greg Winters, president of the Benefit Land Title Insurance Co., said he is optimistic despite the sluggish real estate market. “We are certainly bucking the trend,” he said, “but we want to take advantage of the huge consolidation in the title insurance industry.”
