Rancho Santiago’s football team, despite losing its final two games, received a postseason bowl berth Tuesday.
The Dons (6-4) will play at host Chaffey (6-4) Dec. 2. The game, at 2 p.m., has been tentatively named the Inland Empire Bowl.
Rancho Santiago held a one-game lead in the Mission Conference Central Division with two games left but lost to Fullerton, 24-17, and to Saddleback, 36-14, and finished tied for second in the division.
“We’ve got a chance to redeem ourselves and not end the season on a downer,” Rancho Santiago Coach Dave Ogas said.
Saddleback, which won the division, plays Mt. San Antonio, in the Simple Green Orange County Bowl, Dec. 2 at 1:30 p.m.
This is the second consecutive year Rancho Santiago has reached a bowl game. The Dons lost to Los Angeles Valley in the Simple Green Orange County Bowl last season.
