Recommendations by Staff Do Not Suffice
At recent meetings of the Ventura County School Board, the trustee from the Simi Valley / Moorpark district, Al Rosen, has commented that he does not read the materials on which he votes because he relies on the staff for their opinions. Some of these materials were on controversial issues such as health/sex education and the School to Work grant.
I find it outrageous that the official we elected to represent the people doesn’t find it necessary to read the materials on which he is voting and is willing to rubber stamp staff recommendations.
If Mr. Rosen doesn’t have the desire or interest to inform himself of the issues that come before him, I hope that he will step down and allow us to elect a true representative of the people.
