Paul Virgin, ranked second in the county at 103 pounds, started San Clemente’s 55-15 romp over Mater Dei with a technical fall in the first match of the South Coast League match.
From there, the Tritons recorded pins by Victor Garcia (125), Chris Sayer (135), Nate Sayer (140), Tim Humphry (145), Willie Peterson (152), Pio Reynoso (171) and Jeramiah Nelson (189).
San Clemente remains in second place behind Capistrano Valley in the South Coast League (14-6-1, 4-10).
Zach Pricer was the only one who had a pin for Mater Dei, which finished 2-2 in league.
In Century League wrestling:
Foothill 48, Santa Ana Valley 24--Five freshmen won their weight classes for Foothill (1-4), led by Ben Balmages (103), who was unbeaten in league, Jim Gominsky (135) and Jason Spurlock (152). Geric Oliver also had an impressive pin in 2:43 for the Knights.
