AT&T; Chief Could Net $9.7 Million: AT&T; Corp. Chairman Robert Allen could make that amount in the next four years from stock options he received following the company’s restructuring, which will result in the layoff of 40,000 workers. AT&T; officials defended the pay package, saying it rewards Allen only if his stewardship boosts the company’s stock price following the current AT&T; breakup.
