COSTA MESA — ICN Pharmaceuticals Inc., expanding on two fronts, said Thursday that it bought a Michigan skin-care company and increased its Latin American sales force.
In Latin America, where the drug company posted sales of $47 million last year, it added 125 salespeople, taking the total there to 224. Eighty of the new employees will concentrate on sales of the company’s antiviral drug Virazole in Mexico, officials said.
Separately, the company said it purchased Gly Derm Inc., a privately held Michigan firm that makes creams and solutions used to reduce skin lines, age spots and sun discoloration. Gly Derm’s sales for 1995 totaled $4 million.
ICN also said it reached a licensing agreement to make and market cosmetic masks developed by TCA Masque, a Gly Derm affiliate.
