Now That’s Philanthropy: Publishing magnate and philanthropist Walter Annenberg and his wife, Leonore, have donated $9.2 million to a $165-million capital campaign at the British Museum in London. The donation will pay for a new information center in the museum’s “Great Court” project, which will transform a 2-acre area used by the British Library into a public plaza after the library moves to a new building in 1997. To date, the museum has raised $78 million of the $110 million needed for the central court, including the Annenberg gift and a $46-million million grant from the British Millennium Commission.
