Did Police Overreact?

* Re “Suspect Slain in Orange Parking Lot After Chase,” Feb. 15:

Is our police force now taking it upon themselves to pass out punishment?

This latest “Judge Dredd”-like episode makes me worried. Obviously, if one places oneself in front of a vehicle that for the last hour has been trying to get away, one is going to be “in harm’s way.”

Sounds like finding an excuse to shoot if I ever heard one.

What happened to the old way of waiting till a suspect ran out of gas?

Maybe instead of considering arming everyone (the concealed gun initiative) the public would be safer if the police replaced their guns with a stick (like the British bobbies).
