Camarillo’s Borchard Beats Rain, Hueneme

Joe Borchard pitched a two-hitter and struck out three batters to help Camarillo High to an 8-0 victory over Hueneme on Wednesday in a nonleague baseball game that was called after 5 1/2 innings because of rain.
Borchard (2-0) also had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. The Scorpions (6-1) scored all of their runs in the first three innings off Chris Neri (0-2).
Brentwood 5, St. Genevieve 4--Vince Okumura had two hits, including a home run, but the Valiants lost in pool play of the L.A. Baptist tournament.
Okumura’s two-run homer gave St. Genevieve (2-4) a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Casey Iaccino added two hits for the Valiants.
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Royal d. Camarillo, 15-4, 15-2, 15-8--Joe Olsen had eight kills and hit 89% for Royal (2-0, 1-0) in a Marmonte League victory over Camarillo (0-1).
Olsen, a middle hitter, connected well with John Baxter, who had 20 assists, on the quick attack and had eight kills in nine attempts.
Kevin Schommer had seven kills and was 90% in passing.
GOLF
Grant 418, Monroe DQ--Monroe failed to complete the match, giving the Lancers (3-0) a 5-A League victory. Two Monroe golfers who completed their rounds posted scores over 100, and as rain fell the Vikings conceded by leaving Hansen Dam Golf Course. Sean Oriti of Grant was two under par through 11 holes before finishing with a one-over-par 73.
Chaminade 218, Harvard-Westlake 224--Danny Licursi led Chaminade (3-1, 1-) with three birdies and shot 41 for nine holes at Hillcrest Country Club in a Mission League match. Jonah Adler also shot 41 on the par-36 course.
BOYS’ SWIMMING
Thousand Oaks 93, Agoura 92--Eric Shafer won the 50- and 500-meter freestyles for the Lancers (1-1) in a Marmonte League meet.
GIRLS’ SWIMMING
Thousand Oaks 127, Agoura 47--Christine Lieu won the 50 freestyle and helped the Lancers (2-0) win the 200 and 400 relays.
