Residents may now take as much as 15 gallons or 125 pounds of household hazardous materials to the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center at Rainbow Disposal, 17121 Nichols St.
Because of new legislation signed last year, public agencies can increase the limit of waste residents may transport to a household waste collection center. The previous limit was five gallons or 50 pounds of waste.
Materials accepted at the center include old motor oil, paint, pesticides and other chemicals that should not be put out with the regular trash. The center is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
