City Hall Will Stay Shut Alternate Fridays

City Hall will remain closed every other Friday, for now.
Despite objections from Mayor Chris Norby and a few residents, economy and employee satisfaction has outweighed custom at the city’s headquarters.
Norby had argued that since the city began closing many of its offices every other Friday last year, it has become increasingly frustrating for some people who don’t know which Fridays are affected.
But Councilwoman Jan M. Flory called opponents of the Friday closure “a bunch of sore losers.”
“I say it’s like an IQ test. If you can’t figure it out, you don’t deserve to come to City Hall.”
Proponents of the schedule said many people favor it because hours on Monday through Thursday were extended from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. In the past, City Hall was open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and some people complained they could not get there before or after work.
The issue may arise again soon, but the hours won’t change unless a majority of the council wants them to. As of now, the majority favors the new schedule.
