Sara Petrella’s bloop single behind first base in the bottom of the 15th inning drove in the winning run as seventh-seeded Saddleback upset No. 2 Hancock, 1-0, in the second round of the Southern California playoffs Friday in Santa Maria.
Petrella’s single scored Treva Whitaker, who had started the inning with a single and continued to second when it was left uncovered. Whitaker had an RBI double in the seventh to give Saddleback a 3-2 victory over Los Angeles Pierce earlier Friday.
