A 33-year-old woman, told by her boyfriend that he was ending their relationship, jumped from his van to her death on the Garden Grove Freeway on Sunday morning, police said.
Rosa Garcia Osorio and her boyfriend were traveling east on the freeway at about 55 mph when he told Osorio he wanted to break off their relationship, police said. Osorio became distraught and leaped from the van onto the freeway lanes near Harbor Boulevard about 2 a.m. Sunday.
“Her boyfriend tried to help her, but she suffered serious head injuries,” Garden Grove Sgt. George Jamarillo said.
She was pronounced dead upon her arrival at UCI Medical Center in Orange. Her two children will be placed in the custody of a relative, Jamarillo said. Police are treating the incident as a suicide.
Jamarillo said police didn’t know where Osorio or her boyfriend lived nor how long the relationship had lasted.
