Travis Lee recorded a USA career-best six RBI, including a three-run homer, to lead the U.S. team to a 15-4 victory over Japan in Millington, Tenn. The U.S. team, claiming its sixth consecutive victory, is 25-3.

Olympic sailors resumed their training in the water in Savannah, Ga., after Hurricane Bertha bypassed the Georgia coastline. The 500 athletes returned after missing half a day Wednesday and a full day Thursday. . . . Kayaker DeAnne Hemmens of Costa Mesa will be the torch bearer this weekend when the Olympic flame is paddled across Lake Lanier, near Gainesville, Ga., on its way to Atlanta. Hemmens will be joined in the four-person kayak by another woman and two men from the U.S. team.
